Wickes flooring issue - Invoice query

Hi all, basically i had some Wickes flooring fitted which was badly discoloured i.e not a natural variation. I sent pictures and Wickes said they would have to refer it to their supplier (Kronospan). Kronospan said they would be happy to cover the fee to rectify providing i got a quote from a fitter and sent them it.

I did and it was £150 labour and another £130 for me to buy the materials.

I then got the following message from Wickes;

Further to my prior email, I have received the below response from our suppliers:

"We agree the fitting costs of £283.20. Please can you kindly send us an invoice for payment once the work has been carried out. Please can you kindly confirm if the customer would prefer a bank transfer or cheque payment."

Once the work has been completed please can you provide an invoice with the costs agreed below and your preferred payment method. Kronospan would then be happy to reimburse you for both the fitting and cost of new materials.

I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

How would you read this? do they want me to invoice them, or me to send them an invoice from my fitter? Also would i then send a seperate invoice for the materials (which i would be providing).

Is it even legal for me to send an invoice if i am not a registered business?

Thanks for reading.

    I read it that they want you to pay it then send them a copy of the invoice from the fitter and receipts from the material purchases (if the fitter isn't supplying) and they'll pay you that amount. I don't think you need to raise an invoice, just send them proof of what you've spent.
  • Are the offering to cover relaying the entire floor, or just those areas where the discolouration is? You need to ensure that if its just a partial replacement, that the batch numbers for the new flooring match those you have already layed - otherwise there is the possibility of a colour mismatch between existing and new.

    On another note, have you queried with them whether they would prefer to ship direct to you replacement materials, rather than you have to go and buy it. Better for both parties - they don't have to reimburse market rate for their own goods, and you don't have to incur an outlay and go and get the flooring yourself.

    Thanks both. Yes it is just a partial refit, and i don't have the packaging for the original 'good' planks so cannot match up the batch numbers! Another issue i now have is the particular type of flooring is no longer available online, and the nearest store with stock is a 3 hour round trip....

    As post 2. It's from the manufacturer to Wickes, but yes, it's asking Wickes to forward the invoice (proof of costs) to them.
