Letter to MP

I'm currently writing to my MP and I wanted to understand how many car parks in the area are being operated by private parking companies.
I can obviously drive around and look, but does anyone know of a way to obtain this information? I suppose I could write to the operators and ask for it under the freedom of information act?

I don't believe private companies are obliged to provide such information against FOI requests unfortunately. I am happy to be proved wrong.0
-
I'll do some more digging.0
-
DoaM is correct. FoIs do not apply to private companies.0

You could however FoI local authorities on how many planning / advertising consent applications for ANPR / parking signs etc have been processed and approved at car parks? This would either be a) a good proxy for the number (but not the proportion) of car parks that use PPCs, or b) could be useful evidence to show just how many PPCs ACTUALLY have permission to put up the signs that they use to rip people off...0

May I ask your agenda in doing this.
Whilst parking companies are in general scammers, they
reply on an ATA membership to be able to get DVLA
details. Without this, most would go bust.
Your MP should be made aware of this ....

The key is DVLA ACCESS to which none of us has agreed with0 -

I intended to inform my MP of my situation, but also wanted to indicate just how many people may be affected in the constituency by highlighting how many car parks are being operated by these "companies".
I have referenced the Parking Bill and my support of it.
I am also detailing my experience in raising complaints with IPC, DVLA, CSA, SRA, and Trading Standards. All of whom shrugged off the problem at the time (2016).
I'm looking to get this in the post over the next couple of days.
I am appalled but not surprised that the DVLA releases keeper details at a whim, particularly as they are raking in £1.4m a month from it.0 -

You mention the IPC, are you fully aware how the
Gladstones / IPC /IAS scam operates
Are you aware that the BPA played a huge part in
POFA2012 and that government were sold a pup

Thanks for the interest. I will keep this thread updated with any info from my MP. I am also trying to get a face-to-face.0 -
I certainly am. I should have mentioned it. I have a thread with a bit of background for anyone interested. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5909786/advice-on-evidence-letter-of-claim

OK, Good luck, most MP's are brain dead but with the May
style brexit they could be losing their job anytime soon
That is the penalty for ignoring voters0
