"fake" telephone number

A while back (years) MSE gave a telephone number that one could use when filling in forms/surveys etc which looked like a real number but was not (I think it was 0333..) This stopped pesky follow up calls. I used it quite successfully but have now lost it. Anyone help please?

Just feed them an 01632 number instead. You see a lot of them in TV shows, they're numbers designed to appear on screen but when you call them they don't actually go anywhere.

Failing that the "official" range of fictional numbers are here if you need something more local or convincing:

    0333 8888 8888 - 3x 3 and 8x 8 ;)

The call is answered with a request to use e-mail address for contact.

    Also works with one 8 less (0333 888 8888)

Enter their own switchboard/main telephone number? :D

Not really helpful in all honesty regardless of what you think of EE.
  • Does it satisfy the OP requirement. YES, job done.

Well no it doesn't actually because it isn't a "fake" number in the same way as the 01632 numbers and the quoted 0333 number.
  • Many thanks to everyone to answered. I do not mind which I use, just trying to cut down on cold type calls. And I am on pref service but as we all know, it does not stop all. I do a lot of surveys and am sure thats where a lot come from. Once again, thanks to all of you. x
