Joint Tenancy (Scotland)

Our letting agency won't let my partner be on the lease because he has two part time jobs. But he earns way more than me. What is then reason for this?

There could be many reasons, because "he has two part time jobs" is not one of them.
Have you asked them (in writing)?
Why do you want him on your lease?

Are the jobs employment or self employment? If they are the latter and relatively recent then the lack of a history of business accounts is probably the reason.
  • His jobs are employment (not self employed) and they told me this face to face because he isn't full time he can't be put on. I am self employed and they just want to put me on because I am full-time. I earn less which means they may not accept my income without his, meaning I will need a guarantor or to pay months and months up front. My partner is fine to pay up front but I want to avoid it as we are trying to pay for our wedding and I don't like the idea of giving over heaps of money, when if we were both considered we would be fine. The guarantor is tricky as we are from Australia and I have no working relatives over here. Most of my UK family are retired. We have enough joint income and the last flat we rented was more expensive and we never missed a payment and once we were both on the agreement there was no problem.

Find another rental property with a more sensible letting agent.
