Washing Machine valve leak

I recently moved house and connected my washing machine to the cold water valve. The minute I turned it on, it started to drip quite heavily. I made sure it was screwed on properly but still leaked. I then placed another rubber washer into the end of the washing machine hose and this worked!!!
However, its started dripping again. Can anyone tell me why? and what I need to do? It only drips when the valve is turned on.

Thank you. I suspect the last tenant had used that as there was some hanging off when I first connected it. Will give it a go!0

It doesn't seal on the thread it seals with the rubber washer, go & buy a washing machine hose washerI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Sometimes the nut (white plastic) fouls the lever handle (blue plastic), which prevents the nut from screwing fully home. Try removing the small screw which holds the handle on and see if the nut can then be tightened a bit more. If it can, and stops the leak, do as southcoastrgi suggests and add another washer. These washers can compress over time and start to leak, although its not very usual.0

Try tightening it a bit using slip joint pliers.0
