How can I get my deposit back?

I paid a deposit to London Surrey windows for double glazing and shutters on the 10th of April and was told the lead time would be 6-8 weeks, since then they have delayed and delayed and delayed, the owner Tristan Goddard has failed to take my calls or respond to my emails and when I called the gentleman who gave the quote he said he no longer worked for Tristan because he never got paid, eventually after one too many delaies I verbally requested that my deposit be returned so I can go elsewhere. Tristan is now once again not taking my calls or responding to my emails, what are my rights? This feels like a criminal case as I've paid for goods and services I haven't received. Help!

Send a recorded delivery letter citing the legislation and quoting your contract Phone calls and e-mails are less formal communication, and less easy to prove what was said and when and by whom.
