Anyone else having problems with this?
On a PC it won't complete a payment of £1,000 to an external account - just throws up a message about a "background" error and "must-log-off"
I've got the new CYB keypad device - which is never called for. They've confirmed that the device is registered and have monitored attempt after attempt - after clueless "black magic" attempt at fixes e.g. "take that space character out of the payment reference", "take that space character out of the nickname", "shorten the nickname". Always the same meaningless error message and outcome.
Typical of an out-of-control piece of software. Now they are on to "you should use our app, anyway" and the even lamer "well nobody else has mentioned this".
So has anyone on MSE had problems with high-value payments out using CYB's latest PC-browser-based system?
TIA

I've had to do 2x 500 the last two months rather than 1x10000

I bet it won't be long before someone's money goes astray as a result.0

It’s because Yorkshire and Clydesmoor Banking Group use Windows 95 (DOS ROM) on their computers rather than Apple Mac OS X like Santander do. The B account they do for kids is a little better as they run Windows Millenium Edition (Windows ME)0

Is that a yes to my question?
Actually it is 3 times £1,000 I need, and they won't allow you to do more than £1,000 a day total
Tried it0 -

Sure that it isn't CP/M 1.4?0 -

Me too. I had to fall back onto telephone banking - with the increased risk of error, not the least by me.0 -
Where does the limit of £1,000 a day for online transfers come from?
They are still advertising £30,000 a day on the Faster Payments website.
http://www.fasterpayments.org.uk/about-us/personal-transaction
£30k is more in line with other banks (generally £10k to £50k). £1k would make their current account unusable for many people who use their current account to transfer money between saving accounts. If this is true, we can only hope they don't apply this policy to Virgin Money now they are taking them over. Their latest chart-topping account has a deposit limit of £250k - at £1k a day to get your money out, it would make them the laughing stock of the savings industry.0 -
Not quite. On the CYB website it says "Internet banking limit up to £30,000" implying there are different payment limitations for different internet banking transactions
Anyway, it is a policy introduced when the new website was put up - at least with the 1.5% / £3,000 bank accounts we have..
They say it doesn't apply to mobile app banking, and to browser banking - providing you have and have registered the new model of security device.
Can't speak about the former, but the latter is wrong - as they tacitly admit.
As you say, makes it laughable. The bank of toytown; and it doesn't augur well for if / when CYB and Virgin decide to adopt a common approach. Chalk and cheese comes to mind.0 -

I can report that I have successfully transferred sums in excess of £1000 (largest was over £7000 earlier this month) from a Clydesdale Direct account. But with having to use a different browser with lots of Javascript enabled to access Clydesdale and with the availability of the Goldman Sachs 'Marcus' account, I've decided I no longer need to use my two Clydesdale Direct accounts.0 -
Have you tried using the Chrome browser? When I had problems with the new CYBG system, that was the response I received. They said their system was written for Chrome and that was the only browser they supported. It's probably not true, but it's what I was told!

Now, you remind me that when I first bumped up against this issue CYB did mention that they'd only tested the new website with Chrome. When I criticised this they said that they would check out Firefox - which is what I use. They probably haven't. I'm not at all happy at the thought of using Chrome
Incidentally, when the latest CYB agent talked me through various attempts at black magic, I reported back examples of things not being where he expected - "it's in the top righthand corner" when it was in the bottom left and commented on the very poor grammar of some of the messages, which I compared to the sort of spam emails one used to get from Nigeria etc. The lack of CYB interest was well off the scale!
Like you, I'm going to dump CYB and get my 1.5% elsewhere. I really hope that they don't bigger up Virgin0
