Help! Bought an item off eBay, returned, dispute solved in sellers favour!

Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can help me. I bought an item off eBay (70£), it broke after 1 mounth of use. I contacted the seller via Paypal (it was too late to fill the claim on ebay) and he was very helpful (or seemed to be), asked to upload pictures, agreed that it's faulty item and asked to return it back to him for free, using his free returns system. It was very easy to use and I returned item (btw, I live overseas now) without any oroblems free of charge from my local post office. Seller confirmed, that item already reached their depo in Germany and in the next few days will be in UK. At that time papal sent me a reminder, telling me the dispute will be automatically closed in a couple of days or so, if I do not escalate it to a claim.
It was weekend and seller didn't respond, so me, being afraid of staying without item and without money, escalated it to a claim. I was very confident and was sure it will be solved in my favour, cause the claim was genuine, item really faulty, pictures taken, item returned....and then - bam! Paypal closes the claim in seller's favour, stating, that there's no proof of returning the item. Despite the fact, that the seller confirmed via PayPal it's in his depo! I do not know what to do, I have a proof from my local post office (seller's generated piece of paper with post office stamp) which doesn't help me in this case. I've uploaded a photocopy to paypal but they decided it's not enough.
Is there anything else I can do? To fill the claim agains this resolution? To contact any organization that protects buyer's rights? Help please

Did you upload the Tracking Number?
Have you contacted the seller for a Refund?
Phone Paypal with the tracking number & appeal the decision0 -
You were required to confirm the items delivery not the seller. That is why you lost the case.
If you had uploaded tracking confirming delivery you would have received a refund.
You can try begging Paypal to view the messages to show it was returned, but currently the case is closed and a done deal.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I used seller's provided return label and got no tracking number. However, the item was being tracked, cause he confirmed item alredy reached his depot in Germany.
Is there anyway to appeal this decision online?0 -

Is it worth to contact my local European consumers centre to fill a dispute? After losing 70£ I do not mind to pay another 30€ to take it to the court and go till the end.
I didn't try to contact the seller after Paypal took this decision though. Seller seemed to be helpful at the beginning. But what should I write to him? "Since PayPal refused to refund me, maybe youre willing to do so...?".
Thanks everyone for the help.0 -
Paypals claim system you should have paid for the return not the seller.
If the item was tracked you should have uploaded the tracking details.
€30? In germany? Are you sure I thought the fee was over €100, €30 if you close the claim early without a hearing.
Who is located in Germany you or the seller? Location of you and the seller?
How much will it cost you to goto their local court on top of the fees and even then you may not get any money. Instead of being down £70 you will be down £100 or maybe closer to £200.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You said the seller was very helpful, so have you contacted him explaining what has happened ? Even though the case has closed, he could still send you a refund. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
