Please Help - Problem With Powergen

Why not see a no-win no-fee solicitor about suing them for damages? - stress is serious.
Also, watch your credit rating. They will have passed an adverse credit report, about you, to credit agencies. Demand written confirmation,(write to them, don't telephone), that PowerGen has now passed over corrected details to the agencies. If you have been turned down for credit in this period, and the incorrect adverse credit report from PowerGen was the sole cause, sue them again for damages.
As an alternative to a NWNF lawyer, most University Law Schools have advice centres where the trainee lawyers cut their teeth under tutelage - this sort of case is a good one to test their commercial acumen.

i've just transfered my electric to powergen....reading this i'm starting to get doubts0

I have left powergen only been with them 10 months, their customer service appalling . In the short time I was with them they had me as living over road in different number, the crunch came when they were sending me bills for someones deceased estate . Made several calls to tell them i had never heard of deceased person, they said they would rectify but they never did. It was costing me time, phone calls and my stress levels were through the roof. I am glad to see the back of them.:hello:What goes around - comes around

Kazzaj - nice one. At least it sorted but keep all of this as you never know, it may happen again later since you have been totally in the right all along.
You can make a complaint to Energywatch or Ofgem for this shady practice. It doesn't surprise me, I've seen many a collections agent laughing at a distressed customer with them the mute on.
Honestly, if you intend to sue go NWNF as this is an issue that if you have no written proof to cover all of this, it will be hard. Sounds like you have. I'm not sure the NWNF angle has caught up since this sector sees many people like you everyday.
PGen could just pull the plug on a deal like that anyway. Your angle would be their underhand tactics more than the estimation which they would agrue is also partially your problem as you have the meter and could easily check the readings. So, not worth spending cash on solicitors.
If you want a completely free route as well, complain to the local press. These Suppliers have press officers that jump through hoops to stop things being made public. I've seen the dish out hundreds of pounds.
I think as QA has said, it may be useful since you have a case for some compensation which will help you get some off your bill.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
I had not really thought of sueing them, but it has been stressful. Actually it could not have happened at a worse time as today we have to attend our father's inquest following his accidental death earlier in the year, and this hassle with PGEN was really something I could have done without. Not sure I am up to fighting them with everything else I have to deal with, but thanks everyone for your support.

Hi Kazzaj,
Sorry to hear about your dad.
You could always write a big long letter and copy it to Energywatch and then see what compensation they throw at you just to get rid of your complaint. Would just be the price of a stamp then.
Good luck:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
