2 adults and 2 children - Pay on London Underground

Hi - in December, 2 adults and 2 children (ages 6 and 11), will be going to London for the weekend. We will be using the underground together over the weekend. We are two couples, i.e. one adult and one child each and will be paying in that way, not altogether.
What is the best way for us to pay? Do we get tickets from Kings Cross (arrival station) for the weekend or use contactless going through turnstile i.e. one adult, then one child?
Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks.

Under 11's travel free with a fare paying adult.
11-15's can apply for a photo Oyster card where they get reduced fares. Or if it's easier go to a tube station and ask a member of staff for the Young Visitor Discount.
You can either use your contactless bank card or buy an oyster card and load some money on it at Kings Cross St Pancras underground for each adult.
For the 11 year old load the young visitor person discount onto the oyster. Put some cash on it (the staff member will be able to advise how much), then use it as normal.
You can do all this at the underground station in Kings Cross St Pancras, it has a lot of staff members to help. Or you can order an oyster online and get it delivered:

All tube stations have wide gates for use for the adult and 6 year old child (as well as suitcases!)0 -
If trips are short, i.e within zone 1, consider using the bus. cheaper at £1.50 per journey and you see more.0

Just to add to this, if you change buses within 1 hour it still counts as one journey. The £1.50 has to be paid with Oyster / contactless - they don't take cash. Not even wrong0 -

I think between the two threads the OP has the answers they need. Can mods merge the threads?0
