Paid out on PPI when you didn't have it?

Slightly confused this morning. After taking ML advice and starting to claim back PPI we have received letters from RBS to say they previously paid out to us.
History - back in 2012 we claimed PPI and got £3200 payout.
Just recently my husband said that he was sure there was more so we applied again. We asked RBS for a list of loan/CC that we had had with PPI on and they sent us a spreadsheet with the account numbers and if they had PPI on - I then filled out the questionnaire they sent and posted it back. 1 week later we start receiving letters.
3 of the letters that have come said they have previously paid out PPI on - but this does not correspond to the information they sent us on the spreadsheet - the account numbers on the letters they say they previously paid PPI out on do not have PPI attached to them(according to the SH RBS sent us) - confusing.
Also, the loan accounts we have had in the past with PPI on (according to the SH RBS sent us) do not add up to £3200, which was our pay out figure in 2012.
I'm I so confused and do not know what to do.
Any advice??

For clarification, was that £3200 from a claim on the PPI or about a complaint about the PPI sale?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
