You must use a licensed insolvency practitioner.
As said before, stepchange charge the least, the process is exactly the same wherever you go :

I used to work in insolvency but don't anymore. As Sourcrates says you must use a licensed IP. I would recommend researching some and speak to some to see which you feel is best for you. The process is the same for all, so it would be about who you feel would provide you with the best service.0

I'm sorry you find yourself here. Myself and my husband had £22k worth of debt and physically couldn't pay things anymore, it was a horrible time. We've finished ours now, but moving on can be tricky too. Our home is too small and our small deposit is restricting us moving to a new home, we've sold and had an offer accepted, mortgage companies won't look at us, some 3 years, some 5 years post IVA, just something to keep in mind. Even though it was the only way out for us, I do wish that it wasn't held against us for so long afterwards.
It does teach you how to cut back and how to spend Wisley again, we have nothing to show from our debt, not one thing. I'm a terrible penny pincher now, but I'm so glad of it too. Best of luck to you.0 -
Also, we did caravan holidays and sun holidays, they were the best. We also went to florida this year, I'm a nurse and worked extra shifts most weeks to pay for it, our IVA completed last August. Just think that your debt doesn't have to make you feel terrible, you realising it can't go on is a huge step. X0
