Charged for a whole term

So I withdrew from university after 2.5 weeks. A payment to the university from SLC got paid of £2312. I spoke to the university and they said the cut off date was 8 October and I withdrew on the 12 th, so they would charge me for the entire term. I feel so devastated, as not only am I no longer attending, I am paying for a whole term. After less than three weeks they’re charging me the whole £2312. The lady i spoke to said that I’d missed the cooling off period, but surely.... four days could be considered? I understand if I’d gone into the second part of the term, but 2.5 weeks seems so unfair. She did mention that because I dropped out due to health reasons , I could speak to my university course student support and ask them to change the date of my withdrawal form. I’ve written to them a long , true and descriptive email to request this. Do you think they could , or would consider this?

There has to be a cut-off point and unfortunately, you have fallen foul of it.
You didn't mention health reasons on your other thread about this issue.

In any event, I would certainly expect that medical evidence or a medical would be needed for that reason to be applied.0 -
I have the medical letters from a doctor and the university have them along with the withdrawal form, my health reasons , plus the dislikeness for my course, all lead to making the decision. I know there needs to be a cut off point, but surely a few days either side would be reasonable to request. I can understand if I missed it by three weeks. But I never even made it to the end of week three and I am charged for 12 weeks.0

The service you signed up for is still available, it was your decision not to continue to use it and to do so after the cut off time. They may consider your health reasons as a mitigating factor but if they don't accept it you'll just have to suck it up, unless you can spin your dislike of the course into their failure to provide what they said they would, in which case you could consider suing them - I believe some students have at least thought about this, although I've no idea how far any of them have taken it.0

The university needs the money more than the Student Loans Company...
It is unlikely that you will be asked to repay the loan for many years to come -- if ever -- since repayments only start once your income reaches a fairly high level.0 -
Thank you for your advice. I believe the debt is £2312 if the university refuse to send it back to SLC. Considering I may never earn over £25 k, would you suggest I just leave it on my ‘debt file’ or given the amount, would you just clear it?0
