Hi,
I am after some views, advice and if poss confirmation.
Background: Last week I was suspended from work on full pay. HR emailed me the accusations as per my request and sent it in the post. The accusations have come from 2 people whom have written a statement saying I said something to them about my manager - which I didn't. There was a third statement too but the individual concerned withdrew it after a little investigation by HR. My job is to investigate sales and these two people were being assessed and investigated.
My question is - can HR take the opinions/accusations from two people serious enough to fire me? I have a completely clean record for over 2.5 years - never ever had an issue at all with anyone at work.
Thanks,
Liam

Allegations should be investigated. If you suspect they are vexatious one option is for you to prosecute a grievance.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

To dismiss fairly (in law) an employer needs a reasonable belief that the misconduct took place. If, following a proper process, they have that belief and dismissal is within the range of sanctions a reasonable employer would consider then yes they can.0 -

There was a third statement too but the individual concerned withdrew it after a little investigation by HR. - what did it say? My job is to investigate sales and these two people were being assessed and investigated. - What do you mean investigate sales? Like miss-selling?
My question is - can HR take the opinions/accusations from two people serious enough to fire me? - if they reasonably believe it to be true, and it's bad enough to qualify as gross misconduct, if for example it was a racist comment I have a completely clean record for over 2.5 years - never ever had an issue at all with anyone at work.
Thanks,
Liam
I mean your defence is this incident never happened. It would help if you have a good relationship with your manager?
Were YOU investigating these 2 people?0 -
Thanks for your replies. I was investigating the whole team for mis-selling. I have a great relationship with my boss. They accused me of saying that my boss only got her job because she is black and female. I have never met these guys before in my life.0

Should be easy to prove then - presumably they have a date and time that you said this to them, so you can prove you were elsewhere.0 -

I was with them - I did assess their work too. They made this complaint 3 weeks later when they heard I was to travel upto Scotland to perform more assessments on them.0 -
I suspect that, given your role, there must be a policy in place to protect from vexatious complaints?0
