There's no such thing as line rental on its own now, you have to have one of their packages.

The minimum is BT Together Option 1 (a.k.a. "The Hour Plan") which gives you calls to UK 01/02/03 numbers evenings and weekends for 4½p for up to an hour. Peak calls are 6p 'Call Set-up fee' + 3¼p/minute.

That costs £33/quarter if paid by DD (£37.50 if paid any other way).

However, the cost can be reduced by a further 50p/month if you also opt for paper-free (online only) billing - bringing the cost down to £10.50/month or £31.50/quarter.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Just to clarify
    Peak calls are 6p 'Call Set-uip fee' + 3¼p/minute

Every call you make at peak times, they charge 6p (more or less for the connection)and then it`s 3.25p a minute.

    Is this correct?

Yes your be charged 6p call connection fee and 3.25p a minute by BT at peak rate to call 01/02/03 geographical numbers.Unless you have an inclusive call package.

This can be avoided by joining www.18185.co.uk and paying just 5p a call !!!
