I have £1000 in emergency funds which is earning me all of 6p PM interest.
Is there somewhere i can put this money to be getting better interest but also have instant access to it when needed.

Thanks

If you're not using or planning on using your cash ISA allowance, you could do worse than put some money into the NS&I Direct ISA. Tax free savings at a very good rate, and access should be not quite instant, but maybe 3 or 4 days to transfer to your nominated account.

Otherwise Icesave, ICICI or Sainsburys still do very good savings accounts without the tax-free status.

Buy the Guardian on a Saturday - they have a 'best rates table' in the money section.

Buy other newspapers with the same information

Go to the library and look at newspapers and 'money magazines' for free and - now it's winter - turn the heating off while you're in the library keeping warm. Now that's Money Saving Expert Tip if ever there were one!
Look on here for the best savings deals (not in the forums, I mean the 'information' pages).

Look on other comparison and switching websites

    Google "best savings rate"!

    etc etc
