Cancelled BT contract but it's still going!

I called to cancel my BT mobile contract last month. The advisor gave details of offers they had but I told them that it was a contract for my daughter and I no longer wanted to pay it for her. They suggested she could call up and take the contract on and I said I would mention that to her.
Fast forward a month and the contract hasn't been cancelled. Can I cancel my direct debit now as I believe I have paid the last one that I was liable for.
How long can it go on before they have to actually cancel the contract as per my request?

Well you could do that.
Or obviously since the advisor thought you were going to mention it to her he did not cancel it and it will just cause a lot of pain.
Just ring up and either do it properly with no ambiguity (It was not hard to say no she is not interested). Or maybe complain and see if they will backdate it.
And no I do not think they are in the right not cancelling here, I just think it is likely they took your reply as a way out (probably as per training).0 -
Call again and ask why the contract is still running (if it is) after you gave 30 day notice of cancellation on that date. If you cancel the direct debit and they try but are unable to take it, the result will be your trashed credit file.
If you also also obtained a PAC but did not use it to transfer the number within thirty days, this would be the reason that the contract continues.Evolution, not revolution0 -
Sounds like a user error to me0
