No waiting query

Can anyone help me with the law regarding parking and waiting on my road.
There is a single yellow line with a timed 8am-6pm no waiting restriction,( yellow sign with a blue circle red line through ) which I believe to mean no parking between those stated hours, however there is also a school slightly further down my road, with zig zags,so no parking on that stretch at anytime. My query is parents collecting and taking children to school stop on the single yellow line part of the road ,is this allowed? I know that setting down and picking up of passengers is allowed( I think?!) but if the driver has left the car and walked a child into the school surely that constitutes parking? What about if they leave engine running? I read Highway Code but couldn't be 100% clear on the picking up or setting down of passengers bit.

PePiPoo is best placed for council related parking issues. We deal with private parking tickets.

Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

Assuming that there are no other restrictions (like loading), yellow lines have boarding and alighting exemptions which includes allowing a driver to leave the vehicle to escort a vulnerable passenger into a nearby building. However, the vehicle can only be left unattended/parked long enough for the driver to walk to and from the building.

Leaving the car unattended on a public road with the engine running is illegal.
