Strange problem with my Dell laptop..help...please!!

Hi folks,

My Dell 8000 inspiron last week started to act up:rolleyes: Problem is that it will not accept the mains charge as before. To explain; I always use my laptop via the mains adapter and as expected the mains adapter box has a solid green indicator light showing it is on.

But last week without warning when I turned on my laptop the mains adaptor box led light started flashing on and off. I have a spare mains adaptor so tried it as well and the same thing, it flashes all the time. When I turn on my computer it goes to battery power straight away and will not take the mains feed.....Strange.....

When I pull out the mains lead from the back of my computer the light on the mains adaptor box stops flashing but as soon as I connect it to my laptop again it begins to flash. This has now resulted in my battery being run down with no way of charging it or powering up my laptop with the mains.

Can anyone help....please...thanks in advance:D

I use my Toshiba on mains supply all the time and decided about 18 months ago to remove the battery completely (all the talk at the time of fires and exploding batteries)

Anyway remove the battery from your dell and now try the charger / mains supply does it work? It could be that the battery has failed and the only way would be to obtain a replacement.

Or maybe the connector you plug the mains cable into is faulty? If so, that would need repairing.
Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!
  • Thanks wonka and malamute, sorry for the delay in replying but I thought I had subscribed to get email notification when a post was left but I forgot to:rolleyes:

Anyhow, I'll try removing the battery and checking my plug strip..........to the tool box:T..george
