Thought it was about time I replied and let you all know the outcome of my delayed baggage! And to say thanks for your advice and info.

I eventually got in touch with a very nice man in Qantas UK. He managed to locate my bag and finally get it sent home. It had originally been sent from Sydney to London instead of Seoul, then from London to Seoul and at last to N.Ireland (though my dad did have to go pick it up at the airport as they wouldnt deliever to my house).

Wrote a claim/compensation letter, laid out all my costs indicating what I had receipts for (provided a photocopy of said receipts) and what I did not - some things I bought in markets in Seoul as I had no idea where else to buy. Anyway, I asked for £500 for expenses and £420 in compensation - £10 per day my bag was travelling on its own. They offered me £806.65 straight off, saying this was the maximum amount they could offer under the Montreal Convention, accepting full liability.

I was and am pretty happy with that so I accepted.

So, thank you Nice Man in Qantas UK for everything and resolving the situation.

Am now seeing if I my travel insurance will give me something - have just come home.
