Terrible Expliotation by EON

Hi ,
Not sure how to tell this @@ I am manging my Mother in Laws affairs ( Aged 84 and housebound) which includes Gas & Electric I switched via MSE to EON, switch took a little time but no probs and then it turned into a nightmare !! They put her DD up by 110% I mean really I worked out via the current bills that the usage was almost right with the current DD . They did this with no consultation or worry as to how she would manage from 35 a month to 79 a month in one foul swoop. Disgraceful I called them up and they insisted that she needed to up the DD and the yhad no compassion or consideration at all Shocking Customer Service and attitude I have now Switched again via the Energy: Club to another supplier EON should be ashamed ...Be Aware Older Folks

I dont know the figures but id assume £79 per month was a bout right for a housebound person in a 1 bed house.

I spend about that in a 3 bed house, and im incredibly tight with the heating, its on a bout 3 days a year. And arent in it about 90% of the time.

if you switched because of the energy club you switched to the cheapest tariff. Switching to someone else will be mroe expensive.

Im not sure how theyve worked out the direct debit but that is the direct debit not the bill. They will offer you the cheapest bills overall. You might have to request they refund you money periodically until they have a better understanding of exactly what she uses but they will be the cheapest.

I have some sympathy with the position that the OP finds his MiL is in. I switched to E.oN a couple of years ago and provided them with slightly inflated estimates of my annual consumption in kWhs/year. As we had lived in the property for over 15 years, the information provided to the supplier on historic consumption by the Data Collectors would have been broadly in line with my estimates. After 3 months, E.oN advised me of the likelihood of a significant increase in my monthly payment. On examination, I could see that E.oN's revised annual estimates were based on three months of usage (Feb/Mar/Apr) divided by 3 and multiplied by 12. I appreciate that DD payments are only money paid on account; and I know that E.oN's DD Manager allows some discretion; however, like the OP, I just ditched and switched.

I too find it difficult to believe £35 a month for gas and electric.

Could you post your actual readings please ? I assume you are reading them at least monthly.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
