Question - As a result of the scandal (it was), is it now harder to sell a used VW group diesel car ? Has the value of such cars dropped as a reuslt of the bad press?
yes and yes
I look forward to receiving compensation as a result.

Is this deadline an actual deadline or is just a scare tactic to get you to sign up and give the solicitors 30%? Surely the only way to get compo from VW won't be via this route. Won't everyone be entitled to claim once the case is decided should it go that way?0

Hard to claim for not having lost anything though.
Who lost anything? Possibly someone that sold a car within the 1st 2 or 3 days of the scaremongering stories in the news? Blame the news for that.
But then everyone in the UK should realised that the software cheat did not apply to UK cars at MOT time. Your car will produce exactly the same emissions during the test or during normal driving it doesn't trigger an MOT test emissions value because we DO NOT test emissions... Its a smoke test, it can produce a ton of CO2 yet produce no visible smoke.
Did your VED increase now they know your cars figures were faked? NO.. So where is the loss?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

We DO test for emissions. From www.gov.uk/emissions-testing...Most vehicles have their exhaust emissions tested as part of the MOT.
Usually, they’re tested using a meter. Petrol vehicles used before August 1975 and diesel vehicles used before January 1980 are tested by sight.
If your vehicle fails the emission test it fails the MOT. The problem must be fixed before you can get an MOT certificate.
VW fitted 11 million cars worldwide with an algorithm built into the car’s engine management software to recognise when the car was being tested for emissions, and manipulated engine performance to produce a lower (NOx) reading.0 -
It's not all about what may have been lost financially when an owner sells their car. VW misled consumers by making claims about the cars that weren't true. They should compensate owners for this.0

That is not how the law works, thankfully. I mean how far do you take it, maybe I should get compensation from VW for the upset caused by having to listen to all this drivel over the past few years.NOx emissions where never specifically tested during the MOT and what VW customer ever purchased a car prior to all this with the decision primarily based on the NOx emission figures! Given that no car manufacturer at the time (and I'm not sure if they do now) actually advertised their NOx emissions figures for each model of car.
Obviously no one would buy a car based on NOx emissions. That's not the point though.0 -

So you're more bothered about this than economy figures which are measured and have been misled for years yet nothing done and no compo for anyone.
You lost nothing and I for one hope that jumping on the back of the US bandwagon gets you nothing at best - maybe even a bill if the claim is thrown out of court0 -
They've been dishonest to their customers and should be held to account for their actions and be penalised. It's a trusted brand that knowingly fitted cars with cheat devices.
They have been penalised and held accountable. Fined $2.8bn (so far) in the US and €1.2bn by the German authorities.Maybe they weren't tested but they will be. Won't customers who don't have the fix then be affected?
No, they might set tighter limits going forward for new vehicles, such changes are not retrospective. Just as the government said from the outset there'd be no change in the VED banding for affected vehicles.Obviously no one would buy a car based on NOx emissions. That's not the point though.
I know that and you know that, but looking at previous threads on here on the subject you'd be amazed how many posters swore blind they bought their Touran, Sharan, Q5 etc. because of its supposed green credentials.0
