  • I think the housing market is all over the place op. In my opinion, sellers still think they have the upper hand but in reality no one knows what the devil is going on. Personally if the estate agent is using cliches about acting quickly etc that would put me off anyway. I agree it depends how much you personally want the house, but as a cold purchase I would be very wary buying at the moment and buying from people who appear to be non negotiable. I, again personally, would play hard ball and walk. Is there any rush for you to buy ? Might be worth hanging on a bit.

    doesn`t mean it won`t be an issue for someone buying now


    For the majority it's not a problem.
    For a minority it was but usually accompanied by other circumstances like redudancy divorce.
    I don't deny there are risks but one has to weigh up the likelihood with all risks.


    and not everyone wants to stay in the same house for 60 years either


    Who said you have to?
    Once you've got equity you can do what you want.

    franieannieee - can you say where the house is.
    In the vast majority of the country prices are rising.
    I've seen scaremongering about a crash since 2001 and there will always be something to worry about.
