Hindsight and retrospective googling are great aren't they?!?!
Comfortable Conservatories fitted an internal ceiling for our conservatory a few years ago and we were very happy with it so they were the natural choice when we needed the external roof replacing. That and because the 5 or 6 other firms I asked for quotes DIDN'T EVEN REPLY TO THE EMAIL / PHONE MESSAGES I SENT.
We got a visit and quote on the 22/10, we haggled on price, agreed the price and paid the £600 deposit on the 24/10 (via BACS - I know, I know - isn't hindsight great?).
Surprise, surprise, there's been no contact since. All 3 phone numbers on the salesman (or Comfort Advisors) email aren't being answered and the emails we've sent have been ignored.
I am !!!!ed off and preparing to assign the £600 to my own stupidity tax. However, how can a payment be accepted into an account for a company that is in liquidation? That doesn't make sense to me.0 -
If your payment was made after the company had been put into Liquidation you can apply to the IP for a refund of your money0

I spoke to the 'administrators' Wilson Field in Sheffield about a week ago. They hadn't at that time been formally appointed to put company into liquidation, they were waiting for more information from the directors. Some family members gave a deposit of £4K by cheque at the end of September and have had no work done and cannot get hold of the company now (website gone and phone disconnected). Wilson Field had them listed as creditors but I doubt they'll get any money back as the company were listed as dormant so will have little to no funds available for the people they've ripped off.
Andy Jones, director of Comfortable Conservatories is Samantha Jones' father. If you look up either company and the director on companies house you will see that Andy Jones is linked to a lot of companies, although most now liquidated etc.
I am making a complaint to the insolvency service and trading standards. Its unlikely to get their money back but these people need to be stopped from stealing vulnerable peoples money.0 -
Hi, for anyone interested there's a Facebook group called 'Report Comfortable Conservatories' with over 30 members who have all been scammed by this company. Comfortable Conservatories/Comfortable Marketing Services and a more recent company TCR (Tiled Conservatory Roofs Ltd) are all linked by the same Directors. CC/CMS no longer exist and TCR who fitted our roof at the start of November are also going through compulsory strike off at Companies House. The Director has just set up yet another company Hardwired Electricals Ltd. We have complained to Companies House and the Insolvency Service but no action taken. Many of us have asked Watchdog to get involved but no response. Trading Standards are doing their best but have no real teeth to stop this sort of thing from continuing - without much effort and just using info that's in the public domain, we have found over 14 companies set up/closed down by the same people with no consequence. Seems they can do what they like with no protection for the consumer. MARTIN LEWIS, any suggestions?0

I should also have added - we were told by these cowboys that no Building Regs were needed.....WRONG! Building regs are needed and without a cert selling your property will be problematic. They have also taken payments of £350 from many telling them they are arranging building regs with the local council but have never done so - beware and check if you can. It's just cost us £600 to start the process of regularisation and on top of that cost we will also need to pay a 'reputable' builder to come and strip back the roof so the inspectors can check what's been done. We have been unable to claim back money paid on a credit card because they even scammed us on that, using a merchant so that we are not covered on Section 75. They know exactly what they are doing and even though they knew in November that TCR was ceasing trading they still produced and distributed leaflets offering their Christmas deals!!!0

Hi,
I almost went ahead with a quote I got from 'Comfortable Conservatories', but something just didn't smell right at the time and after some digging, saw what everyone else saw and decided against it.
I'm only posting as I got an email this morning from a company which looks very similar to them, now under a new name 'TILED CONSERVATORY ROOFS LTD' or 'TCRUK'. I think the company number is 10967517 but cannot be sure (although both located in Milton Keynes) - it was just too much of a coincidence not to post on here when doing some digging.
Be warned!0 -
