I have a Which? subscription. Reading out of the back of the September magazine, but can copy from website in next couple of days if you are interested in a particular product.

For uprights the Best Buys are mostly Dysons and Sharks (£190-£350, 75%-78%)

Exception is an upright Hoover (Velocity VL81VLO1OO1) by far the cheapest Best Buy at £100 and still 74% overall! Summary "brilliant for cleaning carpets, and great for pet hair too".

  • We've had our DC32 animal 8 years now. It deals with very dense chinchilla hair and their hay (although most hay is cleaned up with the dust pan and brush we miss some so the vacuum has to deal with it). It's not an upright but my parents have the upright version and have had it longer than ours, their one manages with a lot of dog hair. They still have their DC1 and it works, not as good as it once did but there you go and they use that sometimes still.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
