What is this called/Who do I need

There is currently just a hole im our new home where the fireplace once was. We believe it had an electric fire at somepoint as there is wiring coming out the wall. At domepoint we want to put a multi fuel stove/wood burner in but we can't afford that for at least a year so we want to tidy it up in the meantime.
The walls inside the fireplace are rough/chipped brick and the floor just looks like uneven very chipped cement/tiles.
My question is how can I get this all smooth and in a state to be plastered and painted. What sort of tradesman do i need to fix the floor and even out the walls? Could a plasterer just plaster over the brick walls? I assume this cannot be done with the floor it needs to be filled in by the looks of things but with what and by who?

Could you not just put a nice screen in front of it for now and get the job done properly when you can afford the stove?
Just let whoever is going to instal the stove just what finish you want there before they quote0 -

It might be worth finding out which stove you want and opening up the fireplace to the correct dimensions and then getting the plasterer in.
It would then be ready to have the stove fitted.0 -

I followed the instructions on this post and it works well. You don't have to register - your image just gets saved on the site and anyone given the link can see it.

I would block it/blank it up till you have the stove done because if you choose a stove now, there's no telling whether it will still be available when you want it, and if you do open it out, then you'd have to block up the chimney void.
We had an extra wide stove fitted, if we'd opened out the area, then plastered and got it ready etc, we'd have had to do it again because of the choice of stove.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
