Good morning all, sending hugs and spoons to all that need them.
I seem to be tired and not waking very early since my holiday, hope that I catch up soon. Masses of tidying and housework needed doing here, but limited energy, and to to truthful good books to be read:o
My Dsis is tearing her hair out with Mother (sound familiar anyone?) it is 9 days since her fall and for the first time yesterday the physios were able to get her out of bed, standing and walking about 4ft with her walker, she now thinks that she can go home:eek: Even with a care plan in place and her bed moved downstairs she would have to use a commode and no one is confident that she could get to and from it etc without falling. She has an amazing neighbour who has been serving up her WFF meals and making her tea, but after being summoned by the careline and finding Ma at the bottom of the stairs she has realised that the responsibility is getting too much, same for a family member who has been doing some paid carer assistance. Neither want or should be expected to get involved with washing, botty wiping and the like. :eek:Oh well it will be sorted in due course even if as my DOH suggested, Ma might have to go home and fail to manage before she is able to accept residential care. Will visit later and gently add my two penny worth.

Gers - Ah, see, that's where you and I differ. I like the darkness. I think it makes everything feel and look cosy. It also acts as a reminder that Xmas isn't far away which is my favourite day of the year by far.
Ah, my least favourite day in my least favourite season. :rotfl: I'm not keen on Christmas or winter.
Nelski - my broadband is really bad here so WebEx does 'break down' though I do play on it a tiny bit for really dull meetings. Some of my long distance colleagues don't understand how to use VC so tend to not pay attention to those of us using it. :j0 -
Morning from dull dank dreary Mehefinland
Hugs and spoons to those in need. Thoughts are with the TA family in articular. Hadn't been on for a while so was on catchup. At least Bob is pain free now ( seems odd talking about someone I have never met in RL , but one of the things I love about this thread is the support given and received to complete strangers. Long may it continue).
Those poor dogs:eek: I just don't understand the mentality of some people. Sally Labrador seems to be back to normal..scrouniing as only Labradors can
. We had several cases of Alabama rot around here so am always ultra careful. She never goes off lead unless on our own property. Bless her, she has cataracts in both eyes ( hereditary) one of which is star shaped like a kalaidascope sp? so she sees multiple dogs. No wonder she's a nut case:rotfl:
Scoobymare has an ooh me in her foot again. She keeps lifting it up to say ' its this one Dad' Another call out to the farrier:eek:#
Had to smile at the chickens even though it was a sad end. A old chap near us some years ago had a small ginger mutt of a dog who used to wander around the chicken run frequently and the chooks took no notice. One day he lost the dog and went searching and thought he had found him in the run. Then said dog appeared from somewhere else. A closer inspection showed it to be Charlie fox, sat in the run and the chooks taking absolutely no notice!
Speaking of which I had the eyes in the dark watching me last night when I checked the mares last thing, so we have them around at the moment.
All for now
. Take care all

Morning all!
Sewer drain is now empty and no longer backed up, hooray! The lovely sewer cleaners jetted it and whoosh! away it went....
The porch is half painted...It's a 1930'a house with a recessed porch bit that was fitted with a upvc porch in front of it, so I'm painting the pillar bits which are pebbledashed. It's taking a while...Tried a roller, no good, so now I've got an angled brush made with boars hair [get me!] much better....
Taking OH to hospital for investigative procedure today..Meeting a friend after her work and then going to see another later on, got to get it all in before thursday...
Parents all round being a PITA aren't they? Mine still tells me what to do and to be fair, most of the time he's right
glad he's still here to give me advice...mehefin, liked the fox story, ru, sorry about the chook, Gers, good luck with the whirlygig, I bent one of the arms on ours when I pushed it up a bit too far, it came out of the ground and bent...it was only two weeks old at that point..good luck with your mum Nelski, don't let her get to you...Jacki, the WI actually soinds good, I've been wanting to have a look for years [ mostly for their secret preserving occult knowledge] but never got round to it for one reason or another. Will have a look again maybe next week...Lainey, good luck with your knee, maddie the same persuading your mother to be sensible....bella, good luck with dress hunting, they can be elusive so and so's
Happy Tuesday thoughts and stuff..Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
It was very misty first thing, but has cleared up now and the sun is trying to shine. I have a load of washing that needs hanging out.
Got the new TV yesterday, took me ages to put the blessed foot on it, only help was a very confusing drawing. Managed eventually, switched on TV bingo, then set about trying to attach the Humax box. Old TC connected via a scart lead. No attachment on the TV....argghhh, chap has been out this morning with a HDMI? cable so now all is sorted except I need to tidy up the cables.
I have put the glass TV table on Gumtree, will leace it on for 2 weeks, if it does not sell it will go on Freecycle.
Cleaner coming this morning, so need to make the bed etc befor she comes. She is starting in the kitchen today.
Tummy seems to have settled thankfully.
Not sure whats for supper, a bit all over the place just now.0 -
Good Morning :hello:, Oldstylers - dull start to our day here, though the forecast is for it to brighten up later this afternoon/evening.
nmlc - thank you for starting today's thread :T. Hope all goes well at the 'Fat Club' later today :j.
tru - sorry to hear about your chooks
. That's awful about the 'food with nails' lying around like that - sounds like somebody has a hatred for dogs/dog walkers  and bad news about the incidents of parvovirus
. Definitely best to stick to your own place at the moment :undecided.
redruby - have a good day in work.
Gers - hope you manage to get your whirlygig-thingy sorted out - I used to love mine when I lived in a previous place. Enjoy your trip to Oban and hope the roads are completely clear by now
.
bellabella - hope your OH soon gets sorted with his Diabetic Nurse.
Nelski - best of luck with the 'video conferencing' .................... think I'd be like the news readers - dressed really smartly from the waist up, but love the suggestion of 'bandwidth problems' :rotfl:! I'm sorry to hear that Holly is having a rough time of things - please pass on my good wishes and tell her to 'hang on in there' - it's not for very much longer now.
JackieO - Enjoy your U3A Coffee Morning and your Quiz Evening - :rotfl: at the idea of your family having you 'tagged'! Your evenig at the WI sounds good too.
LaineyT - hope you get on OK with the physio and that those exerises help with your knee :j.
Speky - Maybe your current employers need to do a 'rethink' about company policies etc if they don't want to lose any more Staff - domino effect isn't good for the general morale of the workforce . Sounds as though TGFW was 'getting in deeper' than you were - she's bound to be looking for a way to make it work
.
maddiemay - sorry to hear that you're having so many problems where your DM is concerned. Sounds so similar to what we faced when my DM had a fall and 'decisions had to be made'.
mehefin - lol at your story about the fox in the chicken coop - they must have had him REALLY confused :rotfl:. Hope your Scoobymare get his shoe/hoof sorted out soon. Scrounging Labradors - Oh yes - we were there may years ago
. I've heard Dalmatians are just as bad - but they don't wait for it to be given ..................... they'll just take it from wherever they can reach
!
-taff - Great news about the sewer and best of luck with your 'porch painting'
.
csarina - I'm another who HATES all the cables etc that go with TV's etc. My OH can seem to ignore them altogether, but they're a constant bugbear with me .
Sending out ((((HEALING HUGS)))) to all who need them - espeially HH and TA - and anybody else who is poorly or just needs one.
Yesterday's shift in the Charity Shop went well - I was VERY good and managed to put my blinkers on where handbags were concerned
! Takings were quite good - think the reasonably good weather helped as people were able to sit outdoors with their tea/coffee.
Just about to put a load into the WM - currently got some whites 'in soak' and OH's shirt collar thickened with soap ready to have a scrub before going into m/c. Today will see the 'inaugural use' of my new clothes-line prop ...................... had it for two weeks, but been unable to use it up to now
!
Not sure about tonight's evening meal - will have a freezer hunt afterwards, to see if anything jumps out at me
.
Have a good day - luv Ollie xx0 -
Morning all ( just about )
Tru- some people make me so ,poor dog.Sorry you lost a chicken.
Nelski-really sorry to hear Holly is feeling so bad, hope she doesnt discharge herself.
It was lovely to see my friend yesterday.I said I didnt mind whether we stayed in or went out,she opted for lunch out which we both enjoyed. She starts her radiotherapy this week ,& dreading it a bit as she hates hospitals. We nattered on and on as we always do when we get together , a lot of scope there as we met when we were 7 at school
I'm going to tidy my kitchen cupboards out in a bit, they seem to get in such a state, and it isn't me responsible. Got some ironing too, then I might go and makes some more cards for C mas.
hope everyone has as good a day as they can,& thinking of TA (more hugs) xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Hi everyone,
We had the earliest possible appointment with the diabetic nurse this morning. We were first in, but as usual she was running 30mins late . Naughty Mr Fix It has put on weight  so we shall be cutting back on the food drastically. We even declined a cake at the garden centre when we went for a pick-me-up coffee this morning ( insert halo smilie
). As we have some vouchers to use up in Tes*o, we shall diet menu plan and stick to it, instead of going "off piste"
.
I have put a load in the WM but there is no chance of drying it outside as it's dull, grey and damp, but at least the thick fog has lifted. I'm now going to change the bedding and put the flannelette sheets on, as I was cold this morning. We'll probably have another heatwave now :rotfl:.
Nelski I hope you have a good day with your Mum, if not 'Arry Potters cupboard is available
Hugs xx. Please give my love to Holly and I hope she stays even if it's only until she has had her op.
MaddieM sending hugs to you and your Dsis. At least it sounds like Mother knows what she wants, my Dad can't make up his bl00dy mind for 2 mins ! I'll have a stairlift.... no I won't bother, I'll get a scooter... ummmm..... no I won't, ad infinitum
. BTW The coven still is up and running :rotfl:.
Tea tonight will be some odd and s0ds I found in the freezer, but there will be NO pudding
Take care and hugs to all
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Just a quick check in.I'm a bit tired today, though I did sleep. I've been over to the other side of the city to buy some toy stuffing and bits and bobs. Plus 2 books from the charity shops.
Not raining today but it is dull and very muddy underfoot. Not sure what the forecast is, am hoping for just one decent drying day.
Gers I don't like short, dark days either.
Those are horrible things to do to dogs.
Thinking of our sad and worried people, sending live especially to TA and to Holly.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
AOD I buy my toy stuffing from amazon and can get a kilo of it for around £6.95. its british standards tested as well and delivery is normally free and very quick two days at most0
