O/S Daily Tuesday 16th October 2018
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Still dark but it does seem to have stopped raining although it's still wet underfoot with laying water in places. It's supposed to be over 20 degrees this afternoon, we'll see. I have a wash load to peg out, I'll do that before I go to work.
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dinner last night was scampi, chips, beans/veg for the menfolk. I had baked fish and veg. Tonight we'll be having roast chicken with mash, veg, LO's and gravy. I have fat club tonight also, think I've either stayed the same or put on, we'll see.
Work yesterday wasn't as busy as it has been but it did get busier as the day went on. We'll see how today goes, it's my early finish day.
Keep safe and well x

Thank you, lovely peopleI've been really busy so should've have more to say than ever, but every time I went to reply my mind went blank, lol. In the end I gave up

Organza_Lace (I'm not used to your name yet, it feels odd typing it!) I made more time for me and it doesn't seem to be popular. Damn shame, that
Nels Please say hello to Holly for me? xx
We're down to six chickens. We had eight, a fox got one, Scampi was going nuts and the others hid and froze. I thought they'd nearly all been attacked but when I put Scampi safely back in the house, I realised most of them were OK, they were just trying to hide. But Donna had died, there wasn't a mark on her, I'm not sure if it was Scampi or the fox that scared her too much but I'm sure she died of shock  Scampi has been let loose in the chicken run once they've been locked away for the night, he's peeing all over the place and it seems to be working, the fox hasn't been back.
We won't be taking Scampi up the hill for a while, there's been a few cases of parvovirus lately and the only place the dogs have in common is Robinswood Hill so we're avoiding it for now. We also have to avoid another favourite off-lead area, a dog ate some food off the floor and it was full of nails  She was rushed to the vet and had an emergency op, thankfully she's fine now.
I had a good clean and tidy session yesterday, ate some lunch then waited for the rain to stop so I could do the next gardening job on the list. It didn't stop so I decided to do some work instead, I soon got bored with that so I curled up on the sofa with Scampi and watched a film

Morning all
Overslept a bit and am running late so a quick one from me, Pork chop or pizza for dinner tonight will see what we fancy when we get in.
Washing to put away tonight too and maybe a quick sweep round too.
Hugs to TA hope you are as ok as you can be xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone.
It's very dark still. Winter is my least favourite season, not so much because of the weather, all down to the darkness.
Yesterday was a lovely day so I tried to use the new washing whirlybird thing in the front garden - couldn't get it to click into staying up. Must try again, especially as I forgot to ask the two neighbours who called round to help. The front is south facing so gets the winter sun when it comes out.
Today my cleaner is coming and I'm going up to Oban. I'm trusting that the flood waters have drained away.
Speky - such great news about your Gran and your decision. There are times to be bold!
Much love to TA and family. And to Holly too, I'm sure her anxiety levels are rising.
Happy Tuesday to all.0 -

tru its lovely to have you back posting again and particularly for all your tales of scampi. We will be locking the doors now till after Christmas carol time just in caseThere was a story this morning on my local community facebook page about a dog who ate something on his walk as dogs do and it turned out to be some crack cocaine :eek:still at the vets and very sick ....what is wrong with people.
Spoke to Holly yesterday. She is pretty low again and was talking about discharging herself again. Hoping the hospital can turn this around today its really upsetting to hear her so sad.She did ask me to pass on her condolences to TA and family.
Off to mums today ...oh joy. Going to take her some brownies which you never know may sweeten her tongue and she's bound to like them as I didnt make them:D nan Im sorry dad is playing up Ill send the brownies and you can try on him too.
Conference call at 9 which I will have to work dress for ...this company just love web cams for some odd reason. I think mine may be "not working" today. No food needed as will have to eat with mum
Hope you all have a good day0 -
Nelski - when I'm doing video conferencing from home I often turn my webcam off as it uses too much bandwidth.
. The audio is fine.
Perhaps your broadband suffers too?0 -
Hi chums rather foggy damp morning here in Kent but no in the least cold just very misty.Sun is forecast for later .
Went to the local W.I. evening last night and really had a nice evening it was chomp and chat so cakes and coffee were available Such a nice bunch of ladies and I will definitely go again much nicer group than the afternoon ones who were rather toffee nosed for my taste
U3A coffee morning for me to host this morning at our local Dobbies so I know I shall enjoy that .Then quiz night tonight, again another enjoyable evening. My eldest DD is thinking of getting me an ankle tracker to find me as I am so rarely in at the moment
Hope the poorlies and down hearted are OK today,am thinking of Mrs TA and our friend Holly who is having a tough time bless her and a <<hug>> to anyone else who needs one .
I must try to get to the shops at some point this week as I am running low on a couple of essentials I have bbeen eating quite a bit from the freezer so the stuff I need isn't a great amount and will only be my second shop of the month and we are half way through October already:)
Right got to get a shift on,
Take care all

Morning everyone,
Quite misty here today, hopefully it will disappear soon and we can have some sun.
I still haven’t heard re physio on my knee but they did send me an email yesterday with some exercises to do so will crack on with those first thing and then see where the day takes me. My DOH has the third and hopefully final interview for that job he really wants, they have certainly made him jump through hoops for it, hope it will be worth it.
Oh TRU that poor dog eating the nail filled food, sick so and so’s
Thinking of Holly the TA family and all those who are poorly or worried.
Have a good day folks x0 -
Morning everyone,
Again, thank you all for your well wishes for me and my Gran! Coming on here is part of my morning routine so I never reply directly but I do read them all and it means so much.
Yesterday was the day that I started to tell my colleagues that I was leaving which was greeted with shock and congratulations. Speaking to a few of my close colleagues, they suspect I'll be the 'first domino' and other will soon follow suit. Now, remember, TGFW is in my office there's been a tiny bit of awkwardness since we stopped seeing other due to my leaving. When the announcement was made, she had to pretend it was the first time she'd heard. She phoned me after work and asked what I thought of a long distance relationship and I told her that I don't think it would work, for me at least. I feel really bad but I'm sure in the future she'll see it was the right decision, maybe not right now.
Inbetween these calls I played football twice, back-to-back, then had a relatively early night.
Been up at the gym this morning and I'm not sure what I'll get up to tonight. Perhaps if the weather allows, I'll get back into some gardening at my mums before the really bad weather comes.
Gers - Ah, see, that's where you and I differ. I like the darkness. I think it makes everything feel and look cosy. It also acts as a reminder that Xmas isn't far away which is my favourite day of the year by far.0
