Fair quote for worktop?

I've just had a quote for fitting laminate worktop (not supplying) and sink and taps. It includes 2 mitred joints and about 2.5 metres of worktop. Also fitting a new extractor fan and some plinths around edge of existing units. The quote is for labour only apart from some waste pipe under sink. £850-900. 2 Days work. Does this sound about right? I've no idea.

Not really, no.
Supplying nothing?
Replacing an extractor fan or running electrics for a new one?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Just replacing existing fan.
Does this job sound like 2 days work?0 -
Possibly, but the price is very high for 2 days work.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Hi, we move threads if we think they’ll get more help elsewhere (please read the forum rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board. If you have any questions about this policy please email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.
I’ve moved your thread from the ‘In my home’ board to the ‘Is This Quote Fair?’ board, where it is better suited.

I got a full kitchen fitted for less than that.0

I paid £380 for a very similar job. Two people for one day.
No extractor fan but as well they built a oven cabinet and installed oven and hob.
They used a pop-up tent on the patio to work under when cutting the worktop as it was raining that day.0 -

That's more like what I had budgeted. What part of the country are you?0 -

South East, so not a cheap area and the £380 was not cash in hand, proper invoice after the event.
Unfortunately he has moved as I wanted him to fit some wall cabinets.
Name came from Checkatrade which I am always dubious about as everyone has 98%/99%+ score and never a bad review but I suppose it must weed out the worst.
The problem is getting tradesmen to quote for small jobs like this. I contacted five, only two of whom showed up and only one came back with a quote.0 -
I've declined the quote but back to square one now.0

Ceewash, you could have at least put your town into one of your posts - preferably the first one
. Some here may have dealt with reputable tradesmen and possibly could have supplied names. If you say South East like Tom99 then that area is so vast that you will probably also get no local recommendations
