Had an accident. Don't want car written off.
In need of advice.
I bumped into someone in a car park and caused some damage to their car. I called the insurance company and they asked whether i wanted to claim for my car, and i said yes. I'm now worried the car is going to be written off.
The car is 12 years old and is worth about £1000. It had only just passed it's MOT and is fine. I'd imagine it's got a couple more years in it. All that was damaged was the front bumper which would probably cost less than £200 to fix.
What can i do to avoid it being written off? And where would i stand if it is?

So, if they write it off ask to buy back the salvage and get a bumper from a scrapper. But you may find once your excess is factored in there's no point, you may as well not claim.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230

As has been said, withdraw the claim for your car and have it fixed yourself. Simples.0
