Sports Direct faulty suitcase

Hello,
I bought a case from Sports direct at the end of August. I used it a week ago for the first time, and the pull handle snapped (it's a wheeled case with a extendable handle).
I no longer have my receipt, but I paid by card and so have a bank statement and I know the date of transaction.
I realise it's outside of the 30 days period, and Sports direct aren't great with refunds/returns anyway. Is there any point trying to return it?
I've tried their customer service number, and store number, but it just cuts out! Awful.
Thanks

Did you buy it online or instore ? If instore, I'd take the broken case and your bank statement to the customer services desk and if you get no joy, ask to speak to a manager.0

Did the handle break when you were pulling it or was it under the control of the airline or baggage handlers?
If it was damaged by the airline then you might have a hard job getting it replaced or getting a refund.0 -
The 30 day period will be for change of mind returns, not for faulty goods0

I doubt this will be an open and shut case....."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
