Hello,
I am having some laminate flooring laid in kitchen.
Does anyone know the main features of pergo and quick step so that I can make a decision on which would be best.
Are both waterproof?
Many thanks!

Just had Pergo slate effect laminate installed in our kitchen. Told it is fairly waterproof (Won't tolerate a lot of water sitting on it for an extended period).
It looks fantastic and seems to incredibly hard wearing.
Sorry, can't compare it to Quickstep as that was not an option for us.0 -
I dont think there are any laminiates that claim to be water proof. Appropriate ones will say they are suitable for bathroom or kitchen where they can withstand a bit of mosture on them every now and then.
The main problem is water getting inbetween the joints.
I installed Quickstep flooring in our hall way last year when it was on offer from B&Q (the AQUA range I think). I put consideration into the environment it was going to be in and that there was a good chance that there could be a small amount of water ingress as you walk through the door. So far its held up perfectly.
In a kitchen, your main problem area is going to be the risk of dropping something on it. So picking something thats going to strong is probably a 1st and water resistance 2nd.
Dont forget to get good quality underlay (picking one thats most appropriate for the installation) and a good level surface to install on. Skip either of these 2 steps or cheap out and it will hurt you later down the line0 -
You could look at LVT much more resilient.0
