Coast in administration and they have my money!

Hi,
I recently bought a dress for £125 for my brother's wedding at Coast, with the understanding that I had 28 days for a full refund if I decided I didn't like it. I don't like it and went to take it back, only to find that Coast have gone into administration. I have now been told on the phone that I can return it for a gift voucher for Karen Miller. I really want my money back!
Any thoughts?

How was that "understanding" communicated? What can you prove in writing? (Email is OK).
If you paid by CC then you could raise a Section 75 claim ... but you'd need to prove that the return option was a contractual term; for in-store sales it's not a legal right - in fact the opposite is true.0 -
Has the wedding now been and gone...? Are you dependent upon the return of this dress to procure another?
As @DoaM has noted, you have no right of return for an in-store purchase, and I don't think a S75 claim would be valid for a change of mind scenario. I'm afraid it's the gift voucher route or nothing - you might be able to resell the voucher to get back at least some of your outlay.0 -

Because of this and provided that the OP has proof of the 30 day return policy then there is no reason why a S75 claim wouldn't be valid as the inability to return for a cash refund is a breech of contract.0 -
Hi. Which branch of Coast Clothing did you buy the item from?0

I bought a dress for 129 using PayPal. Returned it and got an email from PayPal saying that refund would be going into my account shortly. It didn’t! On checking my PayPal account it says refund -cancelled. Any ideas?0
