Online order cancellation before dispatch (pre-order).

Hello,
I placed an order from a Japanese online site a month ago, this was a pre-order for an item due out late December. The date of release has slipped to late January and I would like to cancel. This is an expensive item (90000jpy+) over £640 but they claim I must pay a 10% cancellation fee. I is indeed in their terms&conditions, is that any consumer law I can use to get out of this, 10% is alot of money for me.

Unfortunately my Japanese is ropey, so I cannot read the consumer laws you are bound by.

You'll likely be bound by Japanese consumer law and I'm not sure if their law allows for cancellation fees or not.

There is a consumers union in Japan that gives advice. It's called:
日本消費者連盟 You could try ringing them and asking.
