Hi, could somebody please explain about universal credit and students , my daughter is a full time student and has 1 dependant, she has just recently been claiming universal credit after being on tax credit her money has dropped dramatically to a point she can no longer afford to live independently and is having to move back on with me with her little boy , I was always under the illusion tht a maintenance loan is not classed as an income , because it is a loan tht will be paid back !

Student loans are classed as income when claiming UC. Doesn't matter if it's a loan that will be repaid, it's still classed as income. See link. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/universal-credit-and-students#student-income-and-your-universal-credit
