Is it the same noise for full lock left and full lock right?
    Is the noise speed dependent?
When does the noise dissapear - as soon as you move the wheel away from full lock?
  • yes same noise when i do both left and right lock.
only when the car is at a very slow speed, ie, the speed at which a 3 point turn is done
yes the noise goes when i move away from the full lock.

Sounds like the power steering motor being at it's limit. Quite normal if that's it.

I wondered the same .. electric power steering (rather than hydraulic assist) on that model?
  • the noise has progressively got worse - could that still be a power steering issue?
  • btw - the steering rack has been changed as initially they diagnosed the fault as the motor being faulty (original Seat part) but the fault is still there

Have you ever considered it might not actually be a fault? A fault will have an adverse effect on the car, this doesn't sound like it does.

An independent report stating is actually a fault that can be fixed is your first step. You won't get anywhere without it.
