Pebbledashing coming off chimney pot.

We recently found some pebbledashing in our garden and have now found out it has come away from our chimney pot on one side which has left brickwork on display. Will there now be a danger that the exposed brickwork on the chimney pot could let in damp into the chimney?
Any experts on roofs out there that can help us with suggestions/information?

If the chimney is in use, the heat of a fire over the winter months will drive off much of the moisture. The biggest problem you will have in the long term is rain will penetrate in behind the render that is left. Over the winter, the water will freeze, causing the render to come away from the brickwork. In time, this will also fall off.

Ideally, you want to get up there, repair any cracks and patch up the area that has fallen off. Check for other spots that have blown, and repair these at the same time. Whilst up there, also check the flashing between the chimney and the roof.

If you don't use a fire and the fireplaces are blocked off, install some chimney caps if none are fitted - These will stop rain & birds from coming down the unused flues.
