Hi All,
I am going to buy 2nd car soon and i just want to ask about ncb it is already protected on my 1st car and i know it can be protected on one car. But i want to ask if i get my 2nd car with different insured provider without protecting my ncb and if anything happens to my 2nd car will i lose my number of years ncb on my 1st car which is protected?

Your NCB will still be protected as you have not made a claim on that policy but your premium will increase because your risk has increased as you have been involved in an incident / claim on another policy.0

The NCB is usually only valid on one car, your existing NCB cannot be used on the 2nd car as well as the first. You might get a discount though if you insure the new car with the same company as your existing one0

Are you planning to have two cars at the same time or are you selling one car to get another?
If you have 2 different policies at the same time (for 2 different cars) then each set of NCD will build separately.Indecision is the key to flexibility

As post 3 and 4....
You dont have any NCB to protect on your second car. Your no claims is being used on your current car. You can only use it on one policy at a time.
Your 2nd car will start with zero no claims and if you keep it for 4 years you will be able to protect that one also.
When getting quotes you have zero no claims to use on the new car.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

.
But as has been often explained on this forum, many companies will offer a discount on a second car if you take out a new policy with them. This works exactly like a NCD except that it applies only with that insurer. This may, depending on the company, become transferable as a "real" NCD after a certain number of years.
The second policy discount may not be as much as your main NCD, but in our case, it was the full discount. Privilege gave my wife (a named driver on the first policy) the same full NCD on a second car. It became transferable after one year. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Yes but thats not a given right and when getting quotes the correct amount of no claims to mention is zero.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

This sort of discretionary NCD is called an 'Introductory Bonus', and is often available to people who have driven as the 'named' driver on someone else's policy, or on a company car policy. You don't necessarily have to insure with the same insurer, buy you're likely to need a letter to confirm that you've been claim-free on the other policy.
If your second car is a classic (over 40 years old) car, insurers may well give you a full NCD - try brokers such as Footman James. No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0
