Best place to sell pokemon cards

I've just inherited a load (probably about 2-300) of Pokemon cards - they seem to be wide ranging and have been lovingly collected - is there a way of being paid to get rid of them through ebay :-) ? I know nothing about pokemon:confused: so could do with the collective wisdom of the forum - what are the valuable ones? Or should I just chuck them in the bin?

    2001,

but in all seriousness I think which ones are worth more will depend on what edition of the cards they are, I remember Chansey and Charizard being the ones people wanted before.

  • Oooo I'd be interested to know too!

I have loads which belong to my son that are just stuffed into boxes and bags!
Also, yu ghi oh(sp) cards & footie cards.
Anyone have any ideas on the best thing to do with them?
Was thinking freecycle or the bin! Now I might go research Ebay!

Always research ebay first just in case you have any little gems in the collection. The basic ones though are probably only worth a few pence and they might be worth listing in large batches on a cheap listing day.

Othewise is it worth looking to see if there are any dedicated pokemon web groups where selling is allowed?

  • Unless they're VERY rare and/or a full set in MINT condition....they're pretty much worthless.

May be worth taking a picture of them...any "Shineys" in a prominent position...and punting them on eBay.

You never know...someone may take a risk and go for them...but anything more than a tenner plus P&P would be a good result!!
if i had known then what i know now

yes - they are worth putting on ebay. i buy them for my son and his friends buy off ebay too. i buy sets of 30 - 60 cards for about £4 inc postage so if u can sell them in small lots go for it. also i have seen large lots 200+ cards go for £15 +

Varies on shinies as well. I sold 100 cards, 20 shinies and made £80 odd. The ones with the stars in (shiny or not!) in the lower right hand corner are the rarest, going down to diamond, down to circle :)

Finally managed to count up all of the cards - reckon I have 25ish shinies, 30 stars, and about 20 water power cards wihch according to a booklet i found with them are equitvalent to starred cards. On trop of that there are about 100 diamnonds, and 300 circles - should I sell them in one lot, small lots of 5 shinies and 5 stars, or just chuck them in the bin?
