This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.


I have removed all of my post in light of TAs news. It suddenly seemed pointless so out of respect I will instead just be mindful of our good friend today

Good morning everyone.

Thanks for the thread Nelski.

Yes, it's very quiet outside apart from the birds. No birds were feeding for three days, it was most strange. Usually the feeding station is packed with birds coming, going or waiting. During the storm not one bird was out.

I'm still under my duvet. Wide awake but lazy. Yesterday I changed the bed linen, put a washing load on and also cooked up a huge pot of mince.

My thoughts are with our poorlies. Xx

Just a brief one from me to let you know my lovely Bob lost his long battle with bl**dy cancer yesterday, He went peacefully, with the same dignity and courage he has shown throughout his illness, with all his family around him. It was a very long and traumatic day but he is now at peace and painfree.

Some of the longer standing posters on the Daily (and also the T Thread) have been with us throughout the 5 years of his illness and the love and support we have been shown has been so much appreciated over the years.

I shall probably be missing for a while as there is so much to do and arrange and I feel less than sociable but eventually I hope to be back to posting.

TA - so sorry to hear your news, but hope that Bob is now pain free and at peace, sending love and thinking of you all x

Dark, grey and raining steadily, it's been raining since sometime during the night so there's laying water and forecast says it'll rain all day until 11pm tonight - deep joy! Temperature is supposed to drop 9 degrees from yesterdays heat!

DH and myself enjoying first peaceful cuppas, both boys still in their pits, they are visiting my parents this morning, DH's parents have returned from holiday with the lurgy so we're staying away at their request.

Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, pork loin with bbq sauce, french fries, HM potato salad, salad. Today we're having roast lamb, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, swede, peas, yorkshires and gravy. I'll be prepping the lunch, and pack lunches then DH and myself are going to visit friends this afternoon for an hour or so.
