Sink plug blockage- click clack waste

Hi,
We have a sink plug with plug that you push once to push it down and push again to make it come up (think its called a click-clack waste).
The sink is blocked. I suspect it is hair and gunk around the plug hole, but I am having trouble removing the plug to get access.
I have tried twisting and trying to pull up the plug, but both seem to not be working- do I just need to be more forceful, use another technique or access from the waste?
The waste is a chrome bottle trap if that makes any difference.
Thank you!

Sounds like you have to unscrew the waste - do remember to put a bowl underneath!0

Yep, just about to clean my bathroom one. Some "click clacks" can be unscrewed to have access from above. Some cannot. Much better to access from the bottom to clean either way!0

They can be tight/corroded, but mine did unscrew with a bit of force, but as above, some are fixed so access from underneath might be the way to go0

Thanks all... I may use the opportunity to replace with one that does unscrew.0

Before you do - understand if you need a slotted one to support an overflow, and if you do also know these really seal on the bottom of the sink not between the waste and the top of the sink itself.
Screwfix usually have some reasonable priced chrome clickers that unscrew and are quite nice quality.
If fitting it yourself sealing can be tricky This thing makes it an easier job:

(from the top - Waste, FOAM Washer, Sink, Rubber cone pointing up, white plastic washer - rim upwards, Plastic nut). Don't put the rubber washer on that came with the waste (it will squeeze out) and put washing up liquid on the the threads of the cone to help ease it on).
If you find the old waste pipe/trap is too short to connect to the new waster then this is your friend:

Well cleaned mine today. Just unscrewed the trap (two plastic nuts, by hand).
Quick bit of disgust and the fatty hair blob. gave it a clean out with fast water (in a different sink!) and a toothbrush. then up into the sink hole below with a toothnrush with running water into a container. Pull out the extra fatty goo thing from the outlet pipe!
Then replace.Run some water. Builds up a little at first as before (as can't ciompletely access to clean due to clack but did as best as I could!). Then quick drop and take it everything is nott free! Does not fill up to potentially overflow with tap on full for both to clack and overflow (both would have before).
Now I just need a silver inset thing for the overflow as it is a bit discoloured and does have a little crack! Sure they are not much!0
