Refund of Rail Air ticket.
I recently purchased a return Rail Air ticket from Reading to Heathrow costing £21.00. I paid with a debit card. Unfortunately I was unable to use the ticket due to sickness in the family. I was informed at the Rail Air office that I would be able to obtain a refund if I applied at the station ticket office at Reading station. Imagine my surprise when I was informed that an administration charge of £10 applied to any refund that was made after the date on the ticket. I offered my card for the refund and was informed that the refund would be paid into my bank account within 28 days. On the back of the receipt was a paragraph stating that the Train Company ( First Great Western ) would arrange the refund for a REASONABLE ADMINISTRATIVE CHARGE. Is this Legal and has anybody else been mugged live this. clivewin

LegalYes, this is legal. £10 is not an excessive charge, and was within the booking t&c's.Gone ... or have I?0

LegalWhy did you buy it in advance? There's no monetary advantage in doing so - in fact the opposite if your plans change, as you have found out.0
