Philips DVDR610 recorder (stopped recognising remote)

Options
Done the Av switching, the clock resetting etc etc. BUT has anybody come across this:-
Today unit failed to respond to remote. Changed batteries...nothing. Thought handset not trasnmitting as the little icon doesnt come up on the unit but my Freeview unit lights flash when IR signal is transmitted nearby. Tried a Philips DVD player handset and the signal icon appears on the screen but nothing else (wasnt really expecting anything)
In case of operational fault (Eg: locked not to accept handset) I tried to restore the factory default setting, which initally was Ok except you need to use the remote etc select language etc so noe its stuck on the language select set-up screen.
Questions:-
1. Anybody come across this before
2. If handset faulty anybody know where I can get one
3. I presume I can finish setting once I can "talk" to the unit
4. Does this unit have a facility to lock it so handset buttons not recognised
5. Where was the posting on how to get a disk from inside machine
6. Is it @#@*ed!!!
Mike

I found this on the internet

The solution however, was quite simple. I mechanically opened the tray again, as described above, and this time I disconnected the mains while the tray was opened. Then I connected the mains again, the machine powered up and the tray closed. After that, I could open and close the tray with the OPEN/CLOSE button again. As you would expect.

Would one of those remotes from £1 shop work ?
Is it still under guarantee ?

    IMHO

Silly question, opened drawer how "as described above". Not under warranty. As far as pound shop remotes are concerned, never thought of that. If remote is @#@#** and cant re-programme new remote then only £1 lost but sure could use elsewhere.

    • Disconnect the recorder from the mains and leave it like that for a few minutes
    • depress both the Open/Close AND the Record-button on the recorder (not the remote)
    • connect the recorder to the mains and keep the buttons depressed until the disc ejects (can take a while, until around a minute)
    • a message stating Forced DL displays on the screen.
    • Then put in a new dvd /cd
Think i copied the wrong bit last time ! Seems to be a lot of problems with them.

Thanks, will try that. At least I might be able to get the disk out thats in there! Then all I gotta do is sort out why its not working with the remote (or find a remote that works). Sounds easy dont it!

Somebody did say for me to have a go at keeping it completely disconnected from mains for a few days to see if that "resets" anything

Just found this review ..................................Had this unit for a few weeks and was very happy with everything it offered. Suddenly the remote ceased to function. The on board controls are insufficient to operate the machine. We tried everything to reset it. Nothing worked. Returned it and got a replacement. A few weeks later the same thing happens again! There is a software problem on this machine. Do not buy it.

Scroll through this see if you can find a answer about the remote not working . The remotes in the £1 shop are really good as i never look for the code, you just press a couple of buttons, aim it at the player and it finds the code itself.

Problem now solve. Using IMHO posting I did search for software fault and found posting say this is NOT a software fault, simply press the DVD mode button on handset to reactivate. Apparently its a feature designed to avoid accidental something or other.

    Thanks for assist IMHO
