Amazon refund for incorrect item

You don't get a choice now, it's either a RM Delivery Office or another courier (Hermes). You don't get the option of printing your own label and taking it to a post office, and if your local delivery office doesn't offer the label printing facility you're pretty much stuffed in terms of using Royal Mail as a carrier.
I've sent a jacket back today. Printed and selected Royal Mail and took it to the PO.0 -

Update: things were looking up a couple of days a go when a customer service representative thought the mix up over being a refunded for the screen protector instead of the android was due to some refund in postage error. It did at least give me some hope.
However the returns department still claim they haven't received my android and now Amazon want me to fill out an affidavit - a legal form declaring that I sent the android in the parcel etc in order for my refund to be taken further.
Strangely the Royal Mail tracking says the item is still at my local Delivery Office.
However Amazon claim they received a parcel last week and it wasn't the android. This was when the refund for the screen protector was processed.
This would mean either Amazon somehow "lost" my Android when refunding me for the wrong item, or Royal Mail have lost it. But this wouldn't explain why Amazon received a parcel from me under the same order number.
To be honest this is all quite stressful. I'm hitting a dead end with whoever I speak to and now I have to sign a legal document to declare my truth.
This wouldn't be scary if I could actually prove I sent the android. I have no receipt from Royal Mail proving the weight, just a bad photo of the parcel which doesn't really prove much other than the parcel is quite large (larger than a screen protector) as you would expect for an android. What if Amazon decide I'm just trying to scam them and prosecute me? It could just end up being my word against theirs.
Has anyone else gone through this process before?
Do people recommend Citizens Advice for this kind of thing? I feel they should be my next step before signing any legal documents.0 -
I don't see the issue signing the affidavit. Any delay in signing this makes it look like you DIDN'T send it back.
This is just a legal declaration stating you sent it back, so should it go to court, and you get caught out to be lying, there will be consequences.
As you did send it back, then there is no issue signing it.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
