Depending on where you go and the age of the kids you might or might not be asked. The risk though is if goes to court and applies for a restricting order. He can do so very easily and cheaply. The question is whether he would go to that e tree?

Are you taking the kids out of school and that's the reason why he won't agree?

I have a different surname to my daughters and due to this, I get questioned when leaving or entering the country. I have never taken a letter giving his permission (but surely this could be forged anyways), but take their birth certs with me.

He takes them abroad more than I do and as far as I know has never been questioned... as they have his surname.
