Chandler Simmons? Who are they?

I received a letter today from a company called Chandler Simmons who deal with reclaiming PPI. This came after I clicked on a link via instagram to check if I was owed PPI. They offer a no win no fee service, in the letter was a number of letters for me to sign to authorise them to check on my behalf. I haven’t signed a thing yet but I would like to know if I am owed or not but my question is; Has anyone else had experience with Chandler Simmons good or bad or if they’ve ever heard of them?
Any comments and advice would be greatly received!

Many thanks

    They're a claims company.

So they're not going to be good.

Realise that no one is "owed" PPI. If you had it and can show it was mis-sold then it will be refunded with interest. Did you actually have PPI?

Realise also that no Claims Management Company is worth payment of around a third of any redress (plus VAT) for doing little more than putting a stamp on the envelope containing your complaint.

Go here for MSE's guide to the simple and free PPI complaint process:

Claims firms use the same free of charge complaints process that you can use. They have no special powers.

    Complain yourself for free

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

They offer a no win no fee service,

They use the same free of charge to use complaints service you would use if you complained directly.

You do it then its no fee regardless of whether you win or lose.
but I would like to know if I am owed or not
That is not how it works. You put in a complaint. The bank/lender looks at your complaint and decides whether they have missold it or not.
Has anyone else had experience with Chandler Simmons good or bad or if they’ve ever heard of them?

They are a claims company. Just another bottom feeder. That sort of thing you could step in if you are not careful.

Claims companies =goodbye potential redress of 30-50% for the price of a stamp and an envelope.

If you want to get rid of 30 to 50% of any redress you may get, please employ me and give me this money for nothing.

Then contact your lenders and ask them.

Indeed, but do your own research on this and you won't end up with a huge bill to pay if you do eventually end up with a successful complaint.

Read the link I provided at post #3, it really is as simple as a few letters or E-mails.
  • But surely if you call all the lenders yourself over years of borrowing etc then they can just turn round and say ‘sorry no, you didn’t have PPI with us’!???

If you didnt have PPI then that would be correct.

If you are suggesting they would lie to you then the FCA would fine them millions, put them on enhanced reporting and publically crucify them. Such as they did with Clydesdale bank which didn't lie but made records go missing in (what the FCA said was) a small number of cases. They fined Clydesdale over £20million and made them go back and review every case handled prior to 2014 at significant cost.
