Parking outside the lines

Recently on holiday I parked in a council car park in Paignton, Torbay. The space I parked in was right next to a wall at one end but nevertheless not wide enough to fit my car and so I parked over the lines. I received a PCN for doing so and then appealed to the council providing pics of the car and space. The council acknowledged that the car did not fit in that particular space but claimed I could have parked in the bigger space next to it. I am awaiting NTO before I can appeal further or pay the £25 fine they are asking for now or it goes to £50 after a couple of weeks. Unfortunately I did not take pics of the Car park signs as I figured all spaces unless otherwise indicated should be appropriate to park in.

As above, pepipoo.com is your best bet. You will need to register with a non-hotmail email address before reading the FAQs and posting both sides of your redacted PCN.

When you eventually appeal to the independent appeal service for council raods, quote from this https://www.planningni.gov.uk/downloads/parking-standards.pdf

This says that recommended " In the United Kingdom the recommended standard Parking bay size is 2.4 metres (7.9 ft) wide by 4.8 metres (16 ft) long."

Suggest entrapment by the council in providing as bay that is less than that in order that no average vehicle could park there.

    yes go to pepipoo

Play the idiots, they have already admitted the space
was too small. I guess any signs did not direct you
to a bigger space ... thought not

You will get the opportunity to appeal to the
    Traffic Penalty Tribunal

    https://www.trafficpenaltytribunal.gov.uk/

TPT is a good honest appeals service and have no problem
    whooping a stupid council
I have used them 3 times and won

Unlike the appeals service in the private parking industry
such as POPLA and the IAS which are total cr*p,
    TPT employ professionals
