Confused as to when to hand in notice so I am not paying 2 rents

But I will pay my rent for my current place as normal on the 25th of October & this is when I get paid. If I ask my new LL for my tenancy to start on the 20th November but this is before I get paid & I cannot afford 2 rent payments in the same month. This is what I am trying avoid.
This is the normal situation. You're actually only out a few days rent, as that is the overlap period, and many people find that useful for managing the move. It's just unfortunate that your finances are so tight (hope the new place is cheaper!). You should be aware that any other arrangement (eg pro rata rent from either LL) is asking for a favour so have a back up plan just in case. Could you get an overdraft for instance? Cut back on spending this month to cover the interest?0 -

Sadly you really need to wait & see until 16th Nov if they've gone & also what repairs if any are needed. Or have a backup (eg go live with mum....)
I assume that the tenants have given enough notice. I was informed by the tenants & estate agent that the tenants will be moving out on the 15th November therefore I assume that they have given the landlord plenty of notice as it is over a month away. Why are you so surprised? I do not understand.

This whole move has been a last-minute thing as I am having to move because me elderly father is moving in with me due to poor mobility so I have had to find a bigger more suitable place & the rent is unfortunately slightly more expensive. I have already paid the new landlord £204 for references & the bond is £744 which I can afford out of my savings it is just the 2 rents that I will struggle with. I have no problem borrowing the money for a few days if I have to.

In that case I'd probably stump up the interest for the few days overdraft so I had time to get things ready for Dad moving in. Unless Dad can help out financially? Good luck!0 -

Looks like this may have to be the case but I will be broke for the full month of November. I could ask my dad to help out. Would the new landlord allow me to pay a weeks rent to cover from say the 20th Novmeber to 27th & then have my tenanacy start then do you think?0 -

The only who can answer is your landlord but it doesn't sound like something that would instil a lot of faith in you as a tenant (sorry I'm really not trying to be rude). But it depends on the competition for the property I guess.
£204 is a lot for referencing! This is why LA get a bad rep!
It seems you are dependant on the deposit from your current place as well, just fyi expect a few weeks even months for that to come through!
You first of need to check end November is an OK date to move in, if the property is ready two weeks earlier they may not wait.
I guess you could ask your current LL to move out on 25th November (plead for an extra day as a favour, might work if they are nice, you have been a good tenant, and they plan to do some work on property afterwards) and start new tenancy on 25th as well. Move in morning, clean in the afternoon. Expect a crappy day. Would that even be feasible though with the amount of stuff you have?0 -

I can borrow the money that is not a problem it's just fact that the rent on my new property would be taken before I get paid.
I have been an excellent tenant for 6 years & even carried out my own repairs. I have very little possessions to be honest & both properties are fully furnished so it would be a case of moving a few car loads of stuff 1 mile.

Yeah I understand this & I did have savings but a big car bill 1k drained them & I had saved another 1k which will be used for moving towards the deposit & fee's. This is an unexpected move due to my ill father coming to live with me, so 2 months ago it wasn't even on my list to do but I have no choice unless I see my father homeless which obviously I do not wish to do so the situation is as it is & I have to do what I can do with what I have got.0
