Ive just had someone from Veissmann boilers call me and take a survey to acess my needs.

He did mention a new gas pipe may be needed because its a new boiler!

    How are these boilers?

They are a premium boiler manufacturer, and two of their boilers were Which Best Buy 2018.

It is worth mentioning though that a new boiler fitted to an existing CH system is a warranty minefield. Most manufacturers, Veissmann included, will recommend a system power flush, and the fitting of a system filter. Power flushes are not cheap. If you decide not to have your system cleaned, then the manufacturer will void the boiler warranty if any defects are related to system sludge.

The filter has been mentioned to me before ( my boiler doesnt have one) but you're right, might as well get the power flush if it means you get the 10 year warrenty.

I have had 2 boilers fitted by a Veissmann approved plumber in the last couple of years- a combi for a detached annex, and their biggest model for the main house. Both with a 10 year warranty.

The gas supply pipes to previous boilers were 30 years old and didn't need replacing.

The firm are huge in Germany and they have a large factory in Telford.

Obviously nothing has gone wrong. I use the standard remote controller to easily set everything - temperature, timings etc.

One plus point is how quiet they both are, even on maximum load.
  • Main Eco are a cheaper co under Baxi, decent make, easy to fix comes with a 5 year warranty and price is lower than WB and Vailant.

My boiler guy about Veissmann " never fitted one, dont come across them as a breakdown, maybe 3 in the last 10 years, so either they are very good or not many people have them"

Probably, a bit of both. Ideal, WB and Valliant have cornered much of the new build market.

I had my 20 year old Halstead replaced last December. Did a LOT of research and ended up going for the Viessmann.

The main difference between Viessmans and most others is they use a stainless steel heat exchanger. 95% of other boilers use an aluminium one which corrodes, so much so that you have to add inhibitor to your system every 2 years. The Worcester 10 year warranties when you look into them state you must have a system cleanse and inhibitor added every 2 years or its void.

No problems so far with the Viessman after 10 months, extremely happy with it.
