I have included a contents page too, is this ok/normal?
    Yes.
Also does anybody know the nature of the sanctions I will face from the court and/or claimant for submitting the documents so so late?
Probably none, but a pedantic Judge may disallow it all! So not bringing the lateness to anyone's attention, no apology or covering letter with a date on it.

I have numbered all pages and numbered the evidence. Think I'm all set to print this off and hand deliver it to court tomorrow, as well as a copy to the claimant via recorded delivery.
Don't use recorded. If they refuse to take delivery, they have official confirmation that they didn't get it - not what you want! Just use ordinary post from a post office counter with FREE certificate of posting - keep that safe!

Got the hearing tomorrow. Is there anything best to say if I'm asked why the WS was late?

Just apologise, say this is your first time doing this and that you did your best to comply with the courts order. Also youd ask if the claimant was at all disadvantaged by it, given they already knew your defence months ago, and so coul have asked for any specific documents that may have avoided the court hearing in the intervening period.

I lost unfortunately, due to the late submission of evidence.

After looking at both witness statements the judge said that, based on his experience, it was a complex issue that would take about a few hours to conclude in a hearing. He didn't accept my late WS on the day, so I asked whether the hearing could be adjourned as I wasn't looking to settle.

However based on the sanction I'd face for late evidence, the cost of another lengthier hearing, and the risk that I might still lose the case, he ruled that it wouldn't be worth it.

I was ordered to pay £100 + £50 court fees; the judge disregarded the extra £60 for 'debt recovery' which I guess is something.

Ultimately it was my own fault and I can't complain. I should've followed court procedure and handed in the evidence on time. But thank you Coupon-mad, and every single other person on this thread who helped me through this process, I wouldn't have even got this far without you guys :T:T:T

Sorry to hear that but the judge dismissed the fake £60 add-on so BWL did not win much. By the time they pay the PPC plus all the time they spent plus a rep, they are working on pennies in the pound.

Sounds like the courts have sent round a memo so all judges know about rhe £60 scam

"debt recovery" ...... now that one is so pathetic
